FBR hikes customs duties on Chinese mobile accessories

The Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi has raised customs values for Chinese mobile phone accessories in order to accurately evaluate duties and taxes at the import stage.

The value ruling number 1580 of 2021 was issued by the directorate to replace the previous ruling 1448 of 2020.

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) will levy customs duties in US dollars on the importation of various types of mobile phone accessories ranging from $0.06 to $7. The minimal customs values have been set based on the type of accessory and its origin.

On Thursday, the directorate notified all Model Customs Collectorates (MCCs) of the new regulation.

After completing a thorough market assessment and hearing from stakeholders/importers, the directorate recalculated the values under Section 25-A of the Customs Act of 1969.

The directorate has also assigned new Pakistan Customs Tariff (PCT) headings to each mobile phone accessory for clearance through the WEBCO system.

The FBR has divided mobile phone accessories into three groups and developed three new value tables: Category-A (16 items), Category-B (15 items), and Category-C (15 items) (10 items).

According to the new ruling, the minimum customs values of mobile phone accessories have been increased on the import of various types of mobile chargers, car chargers, mobile phone batteries, power bank, selfie sticks, glass protectors, mobile phone hands, free,wired headphones,  Bluetooth handsfree, desktop battery charger, earphones with smart jack, wireless headphones, mobile data charging caddy, and mobile data charging caddy.
