ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi stated that the Gwadar Port and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) provided enormous investment opportunities for regional countries, and that Tajikistan could benefit from the emerging opportunities by exporting goods to foreign countries via the GWADAR PORT.
President Alvi emphasized the importance of further cooperation with Tajikistan in commerce, defense, energy, tourism, and culture during a meeting with Tajik Defence Minister Colonel Commander Sherali Mirzo, who paid him a visit at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Pakistan valued its connections with Tajikistan, which were founded on strong historical, religious, and cultural ties, he said, emphasizing the need of exchanging economic and cultural delegations to increase the volume of bilateral commerce and solidify cultural ties between the two countries.
The president expressed hope that continuing meetings between the two countries’ military and defense leaderships will lead to greater military cooperation.
Colonel General Mirzo emphasized the importance of furthering relations for the mutual benefit of the two nations and thanked the government of Pakistan for the kind welcome and hospitality extended to him during his visit.
