Mobilink Microfinance Bank Launched "Dost" Digital Application

KARACHI: MOBILINK MICROFINANCE BANK LIMITED (MMBL), Pakistan’s largest digital bank, has introduced ‘Dost,’ a mobile-based application that delivers a comprehensive digital banking environment to its customers and enables them to access financial services round-the-clock, a statement said on Thursday.

The latest addition to the MMBL ecosystem demonstrates the bank’s unwavering commitment to innovation in order to advance digital banking and financial inclusion in the country.

The digital app was launched in Islamabad by MMBL chief executive Officer Ghazanfar Azzam and senior executives, in the presence of dignitaries from the banking and finance sectors, bank employees, clients, and the media.

Designed for simplicity and agility, the ‘Dost’ app enables customers to access a range of digital banking features and conduct a variety of transactions through their accounts, including funds transfers, bill payments, mobile top-ups, loan summaries, purchasing movie, bus, and airline tickets, viewing and downloading e-statements, blocking and managing cheques and debit cards, and much more.

Additionally, users will be able to communicate with the bank’s customer care team via instant WhatsApp chat directly from the ‘Dost’ homepage if they require additional assistance.

Azzam stated in his keynote presentation, “This latest innovation is a result of MMBL’s long-standing dedication to provide unprecedented access to world-class banking and finance facilities in order to allow and empower our consumers.”

“Like a trusted friend, ‘Dost’ will always be close and readily available to users at times of crisis, thus cementing our relationship with our valued consumers. I believe that this new addition to our digital ecosystem will also contribute to the country’s financial inclusion, which is a critical strategic objective for us. I congratulate the MMBL team on their extraordinary achievement.”

Sardar Mohammad Abubakr, MMBL’s chief financial and digital officer, said: “MMBL is happy to unveil ‘Dost,’ a comprehensive digital ecosystem aimed at optimizing and simplifying digital banking processes for our valued customers. As the country’s largest digital bank, MMBL is constantly on the hunt for novel ways to promote digital banking and fully digitize customer journeys.”

“The digital application will enable seamless service delivery to our consumers, as well as the expansion of digital banking and finance services to underserved areas without physical banking and finance infrastructure,” he added.

The bill payment, mobile top-up, and loan request capabilities are all developed with the user’s convenience and speed in mind. The ‘Dost’ app connects customers to over 1,000 billers, including utility companies, telecom providers, and government entities such as the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), and the Pakistani government, as well as airlines, internet service providers (ISPs), and educational institutions.

Similarly, the ease with which customers may block missing signed cheques and debit cards from their couches will save them a lot of time and aggravation, he said.

The ‘Dost’ software is a completely protected digital solution that, in the future, will offer fingerprint and facial recognition user logins on compatible devices.

The bank is offering some attractive incentives to both bank customers and independent users, including cash back on initial transactions made using the ‘Dost’ app.
