Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, has stated that new-age Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will help verify election results in about 15 seconds while also ensuring a fair polling process that protects voters’ privacy.
He made these comments while speaking at an engineering university in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The federal minister emphasized the government’s attempts to make much-needed changes to the country’s voting process. Faraz explained that with the new legislation and the incorporation of EVMs, authorities will be able to provide voters with a safe and hack-proof voting platform.
Faraz also encouraged opposition members to “come to their specialists and test the EVMs to their satisfaction.”
One of the various steps implemented by the administration to ensure smooth and fair elections is the use of EVMs as a reliable filter for casting votes. It is worth noting that the aforementioned technology took nearly three months to create and is now allegedly ready for official use.
