Starlink Opens First Office in Pakistan :, a global satellite broadband provider headquartered in the United States, has announced plans to create an office in Pakistan, the company’s first in South Asia.
Omar Malik, Member Telecom, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, acknowledged this in an interview with ProPakistani here on Wednesday.
Malik stated that a delegation from Starlink, a US-based global satellite broadband provider, including Director Middle East and Asia, Ryan Goodnight, and Head of Global Site Acquisition, Ben Macwilliam, met with Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications, Syed Amin Ul Haque, to discuss the Policy & Operation model.
Starlink stated that Starlink Pakistan has already been registered and would soon open its first office in South Asia. SpaceX has also expressed interest in establishing a Space of Things and Internet of Things infrastructure in Pakistan, he noted.
Telecom members were briefed on the Balanced Space Satellite Regime, which will facilitate the provision of LEO satellite services. Minister of Information Technology and Telecommunications gave facts about Pakistan’s broadband teledensity, noting that this win-win situation will aid in achieving the ministry’s aim of ” Broadband for All ” and the Prime Minister’s vision of Digital Pakistan.
Later that day, the delegation met with Secretary IT, who offered them his full cooperation in easing the business’s establishment.
