Fawad Chaudhry Replies to the Forcing Hijab Allegations on PTV

Fawad Hussain Chaudhry, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, has denied that Pakistan Television (PTV) anchors are required to wear a hijab during broadcasts.
His statement came after photographs of two PTV anchors in hijab during a transmission went viral on social media, prompting speculation that Prime Minister Imran Khan was responsible for the change.
According to the minister on Twitter, “whether to wear a hijab or not to wear a hijab is a personal choice,” adding that the government lacked moral power to impose such dress standards on news anchors.
Twitter was divided on the subject; although some thought it was a positive development, others said that women’s clothing choices should not be dictated by the government.
On Twitter, the following is how individuals reacted to the subject:

Some supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were quick to claim responsibility for the development.
A person slammed those who were applauding the ‘imposition of the hijab,’ noting that there should also be a dress code for male anchors on the news broadcasts.
