Following the incident at the Minar-e-Pakistan, the federal cabinet has agreed to establish a committee that would offer recommendations to the government on how to better enforce social media restrictions in order to prevent similar occurrences from occurring in the future.

Fawad Chaudhry, Minister of Federal Information and Broadcasting told the media following the cabinet meeting on Tuesday that the cabinet has agreed to hold a constructive discourse on such instances in the presence of persons from different schools of thought, as reported by the Associated Press.

The high-level group will be comprised of religious experts, intellectuals, and members from civil society, among other individuals. It will examine various areas of social media applications and provide suggestions to the government on the best course of action to take in the near future.

During the discussion, the Minister stated that the cabinet also discussed recent occurrences of harassment of women, and that Prime Minister Imran Khan voiced great worry over these instances.
