Ramiz Raja, Pakistan’s former opener, is the frontrunner for the position of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, as Ehsan Mani’s three-year term expires on September 18. Mani and Ramiz met separately with the PCB’s patron-in-chief, Prime Minister Imran Khan, on Monday to discuss the future of Pakistan cricket.
According to insiders, Ramiz will most likely be named PCB chairman once Mani’s tenure with the board expires. The reports of the development enthralled Pakistan cricket enthusiasts, who thought that the move would auger well for the sport’s future in the country.
While supporters expressed their delight on social media, they also focused their attention on Pakistan’s senior all-rounder, Mohammad Hafeez.
Previously, Hafeez had a public spat with Ramiz, who suggested that Hafeez withdraws from international cricket. Hafeez was not pleased with the statement and responded that his 12-year-old son had better game knowledge and cricketing sense than Ramiz Raja. Ramiz, according to Hafeez, makes such comments to spice up his YouTube channel.
Netizens took advantage of the situation to mock Hafeez and his future with the Pakistan cricket team.
