Larger link previews are on the way to WhatsApp

WhatsApp, the mobile instant messaging service, is releasing a new update via the Google Play Beta program, after which the app will display larger link previews in chats, according to WABetaInfo.

According to the web site, WhatsApp is attempting to introduce high-quality previews to its platform via the new platform. Currently, the application condenses link previews into four or five lines and occasionally displays a tiny thumbnail as well.

This feature is being worked on and will supposedly be accessible in a future version.

In comparison to WhatsApp, Telegram displays larger text with larger graphics for link previews, giving users a clearer understanding of what the link is about before clicking it.

It was previously stated that the firm is also working on a new feature that would allow customers to share high-resolution films with their friends and family.

The new function will allow users to pick whether they want to send “Best Quality” movies to others or conserve data by compressing it.

WABetaInfo also posted a screenshot of this new function, which revealed that there will be three options, including Auto, Best Quality, and Data Saver.

The Auto option will decide for itself and will automatically find the optimum compression method for certain videos, the “Best quality” option will maintain video quality, and the “Data saver” option will compress the video to save data and save bandwidth.
