Pakistan’s 3G and 4G user base will reach 99.85 million by the end of June 2021, up from 98.66 million at the end of May 2021, a 1.19 million increase, according to figures from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
Monthly penetration of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) was 45.61 percent in June 2021, up from 45.09 percent in May 2021.
By the end of June 2021, Pakistan’s cellular subscriber base will have expanded by 0.77 million to 184.25 million, up from 183.48 million in May.
Teledensity for mobile cellular increased from 83.85 percent in May to 84.16 percent in June 2021. By the end of June 2021, the total teledensity will have increased from 84.99 percent in May to 85.3 percent in June.
Jazz’s total 3G subscriber base was 7.765 million at the end of June, down from 8.001 million at the end of May, a decline of 0.236 million. Jazz 4G user base increased from 29.902 million in May 2021 to 30.692 million in June 2021.
Zong’s 3G subscriber base declined from 4.600 million in May to 4.394 million in June, while its 4G subscriber base increased from 22.676 million in May 2021 to 23.124 million in June 2021.
Telenor’s 3G subscriber base declined from 5.311 million in May to 5.149 million in June 2021. By the end of June 2021, the number of 4G customers will have increased from 16.679 million in May to 17.114 million.
Ufone’s 3G subscriber base climbed from 4.385 million in May to 4.399 million in June. Ufone’s 4G user base climbed from 6.088 million in May 2021 to 6.134 million in June 2021.
As of June 2021, the PTA had received 16,908 complaints from telecom consumers against various operators, including cellular providers, PTCL, LDIs, WLL operators, and ISPs. The PTA reported that it was able to address 16,717 complaints, or 98 percent.
According to PTA data, Jazz is the most complained-about telecom operator with 7,624 complaints, followed by Zong with 3,661.
Cellular subscribers account for a sizable portion of the total telecom subscriber base. As a result, this portion receives the greatest amount of complaints. By June, the total number of complaints against CMOs had reached 16,372.
In terms of complaint segregation by operator, Jazz came in #1 with 7,624 complaints, or 46.57 percent of total complaints. Zong was the subject of 3,661 complaints, or for 22.36 percent of all CMO-related complaints.
Telenor came in third place with 3,025, or 18.47 percent of complaints received. Ufone received 2,050 complaints about various services, accounting for 12.52 percent of all CMO-related complaints.
Additionally, the PTA received 195 complaints against basic telephony, of which 179 were resolved in June 2021. Additional 355 complaints were filed against ISPs, of which 322 were resolved.
