Qualcomm’s next flagship chip, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 898, is scheduled to be released by the end of the year. The chip will be made in a 4nm technology, which means faster clock speeds and more.
Ice Universe, a reliable leaker, believes the Snapdragon 898 will have the following CPU configuration:
- A single Kryo 780 core based on Cortex-X2 at 3.09GHz
- Three Kryo 780 cores based on Cortex-A710 at 2.4GHz
- Four Kryo 780 cores based on Cortex-A510 at 1.8GHz
He also said the processor would be dubbed the Snapdragon 898, not the 895, which contradicts several earlier rumors. He also stated that the Super Core will run at 3.09GHz. Because he has these leaks, a prototype is probably being tested right now.
According to a Weibo post, the clock speeds have not altered.
His post also lists the rest of the cores’ clock speeds, which are identical to the Kyro 680 cores on the Snapdragon 888. This could be due to Samsung’s 4nm node being inferior to TSMC’s 4nm node.
That doesn’t mean we won’t see any performance improvements, since there will be several aboard.
The benchmarks will show how the Snapdragon 898 compares to its predecessors and competitors.
