Qualcomm has introduced a second-generation Snapdragon chip intended exclusively for entry-level Windows PCs and Chromebooks. The Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 CPU is ARM-based and features a clock speed increase from 2.4 GHz to 2.55 GHz.
Like the original Snapdragon 7c, the Gen 2 includes an integrated LTE connection, allowing users to connect to cellular networks while maintaining ‘multi-day battery life.’ The first gadget to use this chip will be available shortly, and Lenovo will shortly adopt it for their PC.
Because ARM is the next great thing in technology, more chipmakers are transitioning to it due to its high-end performance and power efficiency. Qualcomm is currently neck and neck with Apple and its all-powerful M1 processor. With Apple laptops and gadgets being so pricey, Qualcomm appears to have the upper hand with its 7c Gen 2 CPU.
