Already equipped with a Qualcomm chipset, the Redmi K40 has a Gaming Edition, and it will have another in the near future as well. Redmi has teased another K40 Gaming Edition on Weibo, this time powered with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor.
To put this in context, the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC is found in the original Redmi K40 Gaming Edition.
Even though the teaser doesn’t offer much else about the device, the tipster Digital Chat Station has already reported that it would be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC and that it will look remarkably similar to the original model.
This indicates that we should expect to see a 6.67-inch OLED panel with 1080p resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz on the device. Back-facing cameras with 4K video capture and a 5065 mAh battery with super-fast charging (67W) will be found on the device.
It goes without saying that the Dimensity 1200 will be replaced by the Snapdragon 870, which will retain the same memory options that were previously available, including support for UFS storage and LPDDR5 RAM.
The design will almost certainly be the same as previously, but we may see new color variations as well as expanded global availability in the future.
There is currently no news on when the game will be released, but it is expected to be announced soon.
